Well darn, this week just seemed to be just one disappointment after another. At least, for gamers, us on the internet, and myself, with me falling into D, All of the above. So to let off some steam, lets completely ignore the description, and talk about the disappointment. Okay, one of them involves games, but its not a review. That's later.
Starting off this list of disappointments is the ones on the internet, for a fanbase I don't care about. Anybody who has done their fair share of YouTube game searches has probably heard of Game Grumps. Now don't click away yet. Game Grumps for you uninformed is a YouTube Let's Play channel created by YouTube stars Arin "Egoraptor" Hanson, animator of the Awesome Series, and Jon Jafari, known for his YouTube channel Jontron, where he reviews games in a humorous fashion like I'm trying to emulate right now, where they sit down, play some games, record them, and upload the videos to YouTube. Now remember when i said I don't care for the fanbase? It's because I don't. Though I was familiar with the histories of Ego and Jon, I had never cared to actually cared to subscribe. I had seen moments and the THOUSANDS of animated videos, but never saw any of the series to their conclusion. Plus taking 100+ parts to finish Sonic '06 is just ridiculous. And STILL not finishing it is even more so. Well on Tuesday, the duo got a little less grumpy. Jon left the show in order to focus on Jontron, while he was immediately replaced by Danny of NinjaSexParty fame. The same day, a new show, Steam Train, staring the aforementioned Danny, and Ross from RubberRoss animations, where they play PC games similar to that seen in Game Grumps. And instantly, fans are having problems. There are people who despise Steam Train, people who hate Danny replacing Jon, and people who are both sad and angered by Jon's departure. So lets settle some things. Steam Train first, because that's what I have the least to say about. Though the announcement was a bit too soon after Jon's departure, and the first episode, Hotline Miami, was kinda meh, the show is just fine. Danny is just fine as a player and commentator, and Ross is doing good too, a bit quiet maybe, but that's something that will improve over time, which is what I hope will happen to fan's reactions to the show. Now about Danny replacing Jon. Oh boy. As mentioned earlier, many were sad about the change, but more were angry at the change, hating Danny, hating the channel for the change and unsubscribing. To which I ask: What would you'r preferred alternative be, besides Jon staying obviously. Would you rather have Arin do the show by himself? Have Barry or Suzy fulfill the role? They, God Forbid, cancel the show? And besides, this is what people wanted. On Jon's videos, people had stated that Game Grumps had gotten in the way of regular videos, and that they wanted him to make more Jontron videos again. So Jon quits Game Grumps and goes to work on Jontron again. And people are upset and angry at the change. People just make no sense anymore. And you know what? I actually like the new Game Grumps more. Danny is more focused on the game unlike Jon, and the conversations are easier and more coherent now. I actually like this. Do you know when was the last time I saw a Game Grumps series to it's conclusion? Probably not because this is the first post but the answer is never! Like Steam Train, I can only hope that people accept this change in due time, because I know I have, only meaning I could be more upset at the news for us gamers, which is my idea of a segway from this awfully long paragraph.
That being said a few days afterword and Atlus, game developers of various Japanese games such as the Trauma Center, Shin Megami Tensei, and Persona series, declared bankruptcy. Or at least it's father company Index Corporation is. The company is seeking a sponsor, and though the rest of the summer is looking fine, Atlus is unsure of whats to come after that. Though this doesn't affect Atlus USA, Atlus of Japan is, and since Atlus USA is just the publisher, this still will impact the company in both countries, since Atlus of Japan, which is in trouble, develops the games. This is upsetting because of what Atlus is. Atlus is basically the funimation of video games, meaning it's responsible for introducing us to many games that we never would have known about otherwise, like the series' mentioned above. And though we'll still get Shin Megami Tensei IV, that's not enough. Atlus can't go away, we"ll never see a proper Persona 5! Unless Square Enix buys the license in which we can expect Persona XV 2 in about 10 years. *Sigh*
With all this legitimate bad news I probably should just stop here, but here goes. Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2. For those of you who actually own a PS3 and preordered Metal Gear Solid 4, you probably got this for free which was a nice bonus 5 years ago. Well here I am shelling out 10 dollars at a trade center for this DVD when I could have gotten Fable. Or Eternal Darkness. Or Ratchet and Clank. Or Star Fox 64. Or many better actual games at the bloody place. I was just sore that not one booth had Silent Hill 3 but instead had 3 copies of Silent Hill 2 and 5 Dreamcasts. As a movie itself, this DVD isn't even that. All it has are a few trailers for MGS4 and a recap of the first three games that takes 20 minutes and does what the internet can do in 5. I guess it's a good way to introduce people to the series so everybody could be pumped for the grand finale for the series. Well, for Snake anyways. Not counting prequels. Two of them. It also comes with a download code for the Metal Gear Online beta. For the PlayStation 3, a system I don't have. And the beta expired 5 years ago, so this code is pointless to me. So that's my prize for the day. A DVD containing a recap I don't need, a download code that's really just there for collectors sake, and a fancy case, all of them making me wish i had spent my 10 dollars on something better.

The Silent Protagonist is just sore because if he had saved his 10 dollars, he could have gotten Silent Hill 3 on Amazon in complete condition.
